One of our most popular tools recently has been the Win 3747-123. It takes the place of the Miller 8516A, 8387, 8426 and 10102. This tool is used to work on 3.7 V6 and 4.7 V8 Chrysler engines used in many Mopar applications. The tool can be used to change out or re-install the rockers when they fall (a common problem). Or the combo tool can be used to replace broken valve spring or install valve seals. The Valve Holder is required to help prevent dropping a valve if removing the keeper depending upon the job being done. No valve holder is needed if not removing the keeper. Rockers on these cars are held on with one bolt. The heads are aluminum are subject to wear very easily when intake gaskets are being serviced. Heli-Coils may be used, however if their thin coil of wire fails under stress, the cylinder had can still be saved. The Time-Sert 1812CORE BS is an over sized (Time-Sert call it Big Sert) repair that can save the cylinder head if there’s a repeat failure from Heli-Coil.

In 2005 the first car repair article written for DenLors Tools was on Honda and Acura crankshaft bolt removal. Before that, many years ago, in the early nineties prior to selling automotive tools for a living, I worked at a car repair shop as a tech in Lakeland Florida and had a timing belt job. To my surprise the Honda had a very tight crank bolt to loosen. In fact it was so difficult to loosen (without the correct tool) that I was unable to remove it to replace the timing belt. Hating to lose a gravy job and being on flat rate… I tried everything. The problem was that the whole engine turns when trying to loosen the bolt.  Read the rest…
