The OTC 303-1203 Rotunda Spark Plug Sleeve Remover is the specialty tool necessary to remove broken spark plugs in some Ford engines when the spark plug breaks when removed for replacement leaving part of the spark plug (the electrode shield) in the cylinder head with no wrench flats for spark plug removal. Due to carbon build up, the bottom sleeve portion of the spark plug sometimes becomes wedged and separates from the top part of the spark plug upon removal.

Q: I've heard that removing the porcelain part of the broken spark plug is the biggest problem and that the Ford Rotunda 303-1203 ($218.99, to remove the sleeve) and the 303-1398 ($600, to remove the porcelain) is needed and that the 303-1398 can only be used one time. Are there any other less expensive alternatives to the Rotunda 303-1203 and 303-1398?
