The Fowler dial indicator with magnetic base is a mechanics specialty tool that has an on and off switch to control magnetic pull. Position the base of the tool on a differential housing, caliper bracket or other steel surface for mounting and turn the magnet switch on. Use for checking backlash in ring and pinion gears, brake rotor or flywheel runout and much more.
