This battery booster will not over-charge. I have included information below from the tool manufacturers
Charging of the internal battery with built-in charger
After removing the Portable Power Jump-Pack from the carton, charge it for a minimum of 8 hours before using even if the green Full Power LED glows.
NOTE: The ON/OFF switch does not have to be in the ON position to recharge the internal battery.
1. To charge, plug extension cord into charger plug on the back of the Portable Power Jump-Pack. (Extension cord not included; must be purchased separately.)
2. Plug the extension cord into 110V AC electrical wall outlet.
3. The red LED will glow indicating charging.
4. The green LED will glow when the battery has reached full charge. This could take up to 72 hours on some charges due to age and condition of the battery. The charger will automatically drop into a float mode and maintain the battery at full charge without damaging the battery. The Portable Power Jump-Pack can be left plugged into the 110V wall outlet indefinitely to maintain full power.
5. Recharge the Portable Power Jump-Pack after use and every 3 months to full charge status to extend the battery’s life.
Question: When this jump box is plugged in, is it quiet or does it make a sound while plugged in?
Answer: This battery jump box unit does make some sound from a small cooling fan while on charge. You have to listen closely to hear it.
Question: Does this booster box have a built in volt meter?
Answer: Yes, the voltage displays on the unit. Once the car is jumped started and the switch on the PSJ-2212 is turned to "0" (leave the cables hooked up) the output voltage from the car will be displayed. This is a great feature that can give you a quick glimpse of alternator output.
Question: Are the cable jaw clamps hot on both sides of the jaw? Meaning do they have power on both sides of the clamp?
Answer: Yes, there is a braided stanless steel cable that connects both sides of each jumper cable clamp, making them live on both sides. Some cheap jump boxes don't have this feature making it harder to get a good connection when jump starting a car.
